Dr. Emilio Martínez O.C.D.Father Emilio José Martínez González (of Santa Teresita) was born in Madrid on December 19, 1964. He joined the Discalced Carmelites Order as a postulant on September 30, 1986 and made his religious profession on October 1, 1988. He was ordained priest on April 23, 1994 in Madrid. He finished his ecclesiastical studies at the Universidad Pontificia de Salamanca; after having achieved the Bachelor’s Degree he got his PhD in Theology at the Instituto Superior de Ciencias Morales, Universidad Pontificia Comillas in Madrid, with a doctoral dissertation about San Juan de la Cruz. He has taught Teodicea and Philosophy of Religion at the Instituto Teológico San Esteban de Salamanca, Spirituality and Moral and Spirituality of Religions at the Instituto Superior de Ciencias Morales and furthermore, Spiritual Theology and Theology of the Prayer at the Faculty of Theology of the Universidad Pontificia Comillas in Madrid. Likewise, he has been professor at several supplementary courses of Carmelite Spirituality (San Juan de la Cruz and Sainte Thérèse de Lisieux) at the Universidad Pontificia de Salamanca and of Spirituality of Religions at the Instituto de Espiritualidad del Caribe in Santo Domingo, República Dominicana, of the Discalced Carmelites. He has held several board positions in the Order. Nowadays he is Vicar General of the Discalced Carmelites Order for the term 2009-2015.
