Mrs. Lydia Jiménez González

Lydia Jiménez González was born in San Martín del Pimpollar (Ávila) in 1945. She met Fr. Tomas Morales, S.J. in 1965, few months after her arrival to Madrid. Since 1971 she has collaborated with him on the creation of the Instituto Secular Cruzadas de Santa María.

She studied Education Sciences and Philosophy at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and she has taught at the Universidad de Valladolid.

In May 1999, Pope John Paul II named her consultant of the Pontifical Council for the Family; she was renewed on August 2004 and in 2009. In 2001 she was elected consultant of the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life by Pope John Paul II and renewed by Pope Benedict XVI.

She has participated in numerous congresses in Spain, Germany and Italy and has published several articles about subjects of her main interest.

Since September 2007 she has been a consultant of radio station COPE.

In November 2010 she was elected president of the CEDIS (Conferencia Española de Institutos Seculares).

In October 2012 she participated as an auditor in the Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops with the topic “New Evangelization for the Transmission of the Christian Faith”.

She is vice-president of the Fundación Universitaria Española (FUE) and a member of the board. She is director of the magazine Cuadernos de Pensamiento, from the FUE, as well and some other publications, for example, “La juventud a examen”, “Laicidad y laicismo”, "Los educadores a examen”, and “Educación y aprendizaje”.

Nowadays she is general director of the Instituto Secular Cruzadas de Santa María. She is also a member of the board of directors of the Sociedad Internacional Tomista and president of the board of directors of the Universidad Católica “Santa Teresa de Jesús” de Ávila. She is president of the Council of the Fundación Teresa de Ávila since its creation in 2011.
